IOH turns the tables on Spams and Scams
Scammers beware! Indosat’s latest and greatest innovation is protecting millions from predatory fraudsters.
Within the first six months of introducing its Anti-Spam and Anti-Scam feature, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s (IOH) AI-powered defence has stopped over 2 billion dodgy calls, phishy SMS and threat data, shielding 2.5 million customers from digital con artists, and preventing approximately US$500 million in potential financial losses.
Indonesia’s scam stats are troubling: of the 66% of adults reached by fraudulent attempts last year, 14% were scammed out of a whopping IDR 49 trillion (US$3.3 billion). These attempts were made mainly via direct messaging apps and SMS, and over half of the victims reported having to face the negative effects of stress from the experience. With advanced technologies available to fraudulent actors, it’s more important than ever for telecommunications companies to protect their customers.
At the heart of IOH’s approach is the Zero Trust principle: “Never assume trust, always verify.” In a digital environment where scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, IOH’s AI scans traffic in real time to detect suspicious patterns before they reach customers. The result is not just fewer scams getting through but a more informed and confident customer base.
As scams evolve, the AI learns and adapts, while more customers learn to double-check the caller or sender before responding. By integrating cutting-edge technology with education, IOH reduces the chances of one innocent tap turning into a regrettable nightmare.
Scammers hate it. Customers love it. IOH is paving the way to a world of secure and inclusive networks for all.
