Pipebot Patrol steals the show on TV

The company’s “Bin the Wipe” campaign was featured during the prime-time slot, urging customers to stop sending “flushable” wipes down the toilet, which wreak havoc on pipes. While this detritus seems innocent enough, in reality, it can turn into troublesome clogging that causes horrendous floods and requires multi-million-pound repairs. Pipebot Patrol has been developed as an early-warning AI solution that sewer systems desperately need.

IOH and partners to launch AI growth hub
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Indonesia Technology Alliance and Tsinghua University’s Wuxi Research Institute have agreed to create an AI Application Cooperation Centre in Indonesia. Ajman Port Gets a Billion-Dirham Boost
Ajman Port is set for a major glow-up. Hutchison Ports Ajman (HAJT) and the Department of Ports and Customs (DPC) just inked a deal to double the port’s capacity, powered by a United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) 1 billion investment and a 15-year roadmap.
Announced in front of Ajman’s Crown Prince (above photo, centre), the plan aims to transform the port into a high-efficiency logistics hub with AI-driven systems, faster operations, and upskilled local talent.

These sewers are smart … real smart!
Northumbrian Water (NWG) is investing £20 million into a first-of-its-kind project in the UK that will develop smart sewers and other savvy technology, such as smart sensors and AI analytics, to reduce the risk of spills from storm overflows. Using techniques already successfully trialled in the US, NWG will have the power to control wastewater direction and flow, therefore reducing the risk of spills. Ten years of testing across the pond have shown an 80% decrease in spills in a section of an Indiana wastewater network, so with this new plan, NWG hopes to see similar results.

Port of Felixstowe hitching a ride with autonomous trucks
Port of Felixstowe is the first in Europe to introduce autonomous terminal tractor units (ATs) into mixed traffic terminal operations. The battery-powered ATs will work alongside standard human-operated trucks. The units use digital maps, on-board GPS navigation systems to know where they are and LiDAR (laser imaging, detection and ranging) to “see” their surroundings, supported by their Extreme Precise Positioning (EPP) system that can position them within 2cm of accuracy. The ATs will be used initially at the port’s Trinity and North Rail terminals.
